The Off-Broadway production of Mandela welcomes singer/actress Angela Joseph Cromwell to the cast. The production going on its 10th year has won 9 Broadway World Awards as well as 3 AUDELCO Awards. “Mandela The Untold Story” is performing at The American Theater of Actors located at 314 west 54th St from February 10th through the 25th. MANDELA unveils the gripping untold story of Nelson Mandela in a world forever changed by apartheid. Confrontational and uncompromising in their pursuit for freedom of oppression in South Africa, Mandela, Winnie and The ANC fearlessly battle enormous odds, while maintaining their dignity and compassion. The many layers of the show portray how the U.S and South Africa mirrored each other, as protesting Blacks in each country suffered similar social injustices while fighting against oppression – and how the CIA played a mysterious role in Mr. Mandela’s capture. The show depicts highly sensitive subjects, but also evokes laughter and moments of joy. In 2023, MANDELA is a timely, relevant, moving experience for all.
